Professional Attitude

Having a professional attitude includes being aware of what you as a scientist are responsible for and that there can be implications for what you do in your research both locally and in the broader scheme of things.

The APS and the Association of Chairs of Departments of Physiology recommend that trainees understand the importance of and work to develop the following professional attitude skills:

1. Awareness of responsibility as a scientist
2. Awareness of the ethical implications of one’s area of research
3. Understanding of public affairs and how it relates to research
