Cardiovascular
Section Awards
The
Carl J. Wiggers Award ($1,000 honorarium plus complimentary
registration to the EB 2011 Meeting) is presented to a scientist who is a
fellow of the Cardiovascular Section of APS, who has made outstanding
and lasting contributions throughout his/her career to cardiovascular
research. This award is in honor of the Cardiovascular Section's Founder,
Carl J. Wiggers, whose research defined fundamental pressure-flow
relationships in the cardiovascular system. In addition to publishing
definitive texts on circulatory physiology, Dr. Wiggers founded
Circulation Research and trained numerous future department heads as
well as several presidents of APS.
The Nominations package should consist of:
1) a letter of nomination; 2)
one or more seconding letters (preferably from someone outside the
nominee's institution); and, 3) the candidate's CV.
