Meeting Title 2008 APS Intersociety Meeting: The Integrative Biology of Exercise V

Registration Deadlines and Fees The registration fee includes entry into all scientific sessions, opening reception, poster sessions and socials. Register early and save! The advance registration deadline is August 25, 2008.
*Member refers to a member in good standing of the American Physiological Society/American College of Sports Medicine/ Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. You must supply proof of membership when registering.
Advance Registration To register in advance, please choose from one of the three registration methods below. Once your registration has been received by the APS office, it will be processed and entered into the registration system.
Badges and receipts will be mailed to advance domestic registrants the first week of September. If you did not receive or lost your meeting badge prior to the meeting, please come to the registration desk for a replacement. Foreign registrants may pick up their meeting badge, receipt, and other meeting materials at the registration desk.
Registration and Payment Options Early registration for this meeting has now closed. Please register on-site at the meeting. The registration desk will be located on the lobby level of the Westin Resort and Spa hotel in the Savannah Foyer.
The American Physiological Society accepts the following major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, and American Express for registration payment. The American Physiological Society also accepts both personal and institute checks. All checks must be made out in US Dollars, drawn from a US bank and made payable to The American Physiological Society. Please make sure that the check accompanies a completed registration form to avoid processing delays. Please note that the American Physiological Society does not accept purchase orders for registration payments. Please use a credit card or check.
Student Registration Any student member or regularly matriculated student working toward a degree in one of the biomedical sciences is eligible to register at the student fee. Nonmember postdoctoral fellows, hospital residents and interns, and laboratory technicians do not qualify as students. For nonmember students, certification of eligibility signed by the department head or research advisor must accompany the remittance for advance student registration. Member students need only supply the APS membership ID number. Students who register onsite must provide either: a certificate or letter signed by the department head or a current student ID card or, their current APS membership card indicating their student category status.
Postdoctoral Registration Any person who has received a Ph.D. degree in physiology or related field, within four years of this meeting, as attested to by the department head is eligible to register at the postdoctoral fee. A statement signed by the department head must accompany the registration form and remittance when registering in advance OR onsite. If you have received your Ph.D. after the four years, please register as a member or nonmember. APS Career Session This special session entitled: Writing Your First Paper: The “Ins” and “Outs” of Authorship, will be presented by Michael Sturek, member of the APS Career Opportunities in Physiology Committee. Discuss with an experienced investigator the criteria for authorship and various roles authors can play during the research process and preparation and publication of a manuscript. Through case studies, explore real-life scenarios and how best to deal with the various issues that can arise with authorship. Students and Postdoctoral Fellows are encouraged to join Michael Sturek of the APS Career Opportunities in Physiology Committee for this special session on important factors in making the next step in your research career. Gain valuable insights and guides on how to make the most of your career in physiology and have the opportunity to ask questions to a seasoned researcher. Refunds The advance registration fee will be refunded to those who must cancel their attendance at the meeting, provided the request for refund is received in the APS Meeting Department before September 2, 2008. Refund requests must be submitted in writing and be accompanied by the advance registration receipt and badge if received by the date of request. Program/Abstract Volume All abstracts submitted for this meeting will be bound with the official program and handed out onsite. These abstracts are considered in press of The Physiologist. They will appear in the December 2008 issue and should be cited as "program number [#], in press". All registrants should come to the onsite Registration Desk to receive a copy of the program. You must show your registration badge to obtain a program.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) This meeting will not be offering Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

Program Objective At the completion of this meeting, participants will have a broader understanding of exercise physiology and interdisciplinary efforts to assess its impact on the systems of the body. The goal of the meeting is to accumulate together a critical mass of scientists who have interests in the integrative biology of exercise to promote the exchange of ideas and potential collaborations in the future.
Target Audience The intended audience for this meeting includes established scientists, young investigators, and students involved in teaching, research and clinical fields related to exercise biology.
