Communications Committee
(Established July 2001)

This Committee is composed of six or more members of the Society. The Chairpersons of the Awards, Joint Program, Public Affairs, and Publications and the Society's Public Information Officer are ex officio members of the Committee, without vote.  

Duties of the Communications Committee are to:

  1. Formulate policies for the promotion of physiology and the Society’s activities

  2. Work with the Communications Specialist, communications firm, and appropriate committees to help identify media-appropriate elements of the Society’s journals, meetings, awards, and other activities to promote

  3. Work with the Association of Chairs of Departments of Physiology to determine the best means of promoting physiology

  4. Develop methods for early identification of journal articles appropriate for promotion, utilizing reviewers and/or editors of APS journals

  5. Review program on annual basis and provide recommendations to Council concerning continuance of contract with communications firm
